MY ROCK! |
It’s that time of year! Basketball is in full swing and football is winding down. I find myself hopping on Clemson’s bandwagon like everyone else. Who doesn’t want to see Alabama crumble? Nothing personal, Coach Saban. You’re a nice guy and all. It’s just time.
As I was sifting through ESPN, this article about Swinney’s eight-year vision for Clemson really stuck out to me. I began to think about my own vision as a classroom teacher and instructional coach. What do I envision for students? For teachers? Is it to become the academic powerhouse of the state? To become lifelong learners? To believe in themselves? Absolutely!
I decided to take a little bit of time and dig through our focused planning resources folder from last year. If you remember, it was divided into folders ranging from literacy to relationships. As I am discussing instruction with teachers, I realize that their vision of instruction has taken a little bit of a shift. These folders are not serving the same purpose as they were last year. Teachers are needing more of a connection to the Marzano framework. And so, Planning for Literacy was born. I like to think of it as our playbook for addressing content. I hope it serves you well. As with every vision, it is a work in progress. I’m rooting for you Swinney! I hope to be witnessing your eight-year vision unfold this evening. This rock’s for you!
