I’m going to apologize up front. This week’s post is going to be rather short. I have a long list of planning sessions, observations, and reflections to tend to. In case I haven’t told you lately, I love my job!
My last post focused on monitoring for the desired effect. After having many conversations with many teachers, we were finding that we really couldn’t plan for ways to monitor until we actually knew what the element called for. We needed a way to unpack our elements similar to the way we unpack our standards.
Each conversation kept revolving around the same three questions: What is this element really asking of me? What evidence am I looking for in my students? What does monitoring really look like? So, today I am sharing Unpacking Our Elements protocol and, thanks to Mrs. Shanna Gannon, Monitoring Techniques. Hopefully you find these two documents helpful when intentionally planning for ways to monitor.
